A number of years ago i spotted a clean 308gt4 for $22k. Service history. Nice interior. I mean it was a great example to consider. Money wasn’t there but i found it would be by next year.
And a year later it was $40+ and quickly off to the races. I no longer had the money. Its relatively easy to maintain yourself. 2400 total made. Its near $100k now and i doubt ill ever have the chance again. Before, at 25k, the wife would say something like, “oh..ok its nice.” But now? “$100k? Wtf you talkin bout willis?”
No boat for me.

Don’t feel too bad. I missed the boat on a beautiful 328. Same situation as you. I needed about another year to get the money and by then, pricing doubled.

In this speculative Belle Epoque, that’s the new normal.
No more than 5-6 years ago I saw a lovely 400i for sale, blue, low miles, documents, very clean, 25K. I’ve always liked those cars. Now they are at least double that price. Too late.

I liked those too. Even had american transmissions on most. Despite a 13qt. Oil change, would be fantastic.

This is why you should buy a 200 before they go out of production. Heck, buy two. They’re bound to be classics, and you’ll retire in style.
Dammit, I need access to Mergio’s account.

Yeah, I believe the guy that runs:

has one and restored it several years ago. I’ve been going to the site for quite some time, he knew! He mainly photographs other cars but when he goes on road trips you see it thrown in there sometimes.

I think my fintail takes 8 quarts, so I can deal with it once a year.
Did these have a TH400? I know many if not most are automatic. I don’t mind an automatic, traffic is a disaster where I live, one less thing to deal with.
